The vaporizer trend is on the rise and has a bright future as more regions look to legalize the condensate market. At the core of this growing market are the oils. They are the liquid that goes into a vape pen that becomes vapor.

There are two main categories of oils; cannabis and essential.

Isolate CBD Oil

Although it lacks the bioavailability of full spectrum, isolate CBD oil does have its place. Generally, this place is with people who face routine drug testing. Since CBD doesn’t show up on drug tests, people can safely use it for medical vaping or recreational purposes even if getting tested.

If purchasing for this reason, it’s important to be aware of the purity. A lower purity, like 95% may have detectable levels of THC. It’s not enough to fail legal limit tests, but it is enough to show up on a marijuana breathalyzer. Instead, look for 99% or higher purity levels.

Hemp Oil

Vaping hemp oil is different from the other cannabis oils. It has a terpene profile that creates the flavor and aroma users desire, and it doesn’t have as potent medical effects as other true cannabis oils. Essential Oils

While essential oils provide neither the high nor the medical advantages of cannabis oils, they remain popular. They use oils like chamomile, peppermint, and lavender. All of which have pleasant flavors and aromas.

People don’t just vape essential oils for the taste. They can also have calming and therapeutic effects. While some of the claims about aromatherapy are unproven, the Mayo Clinic does list some benefits studies have found:

• Relieve anxiety
• Improve sleep
• Increase calmness

There remains a lot of research to be done on essential oils, and they are currently unregulated by the FDA. So be aware that the claims on these oils are not necessarily proven. Still, many people swear by their benefits whether for the pleasant taste and aroma, or for therapeutic effects.

As with hemp oil, make sure to follow the directions and make sure that the oil is intended for vaping.

High vs. Low Viscosity Oils

Oils come in different viscosities. The temperature of the vape pen also affects how viscous the oil is. Whether to choose high or low viscosity oil depends on your preferences.

High viscosity oils can sometimes produce fuller, thicker vapor clouds. It’s ideal for people who use Sub-Ohm vape pens and is the best option for dabbing as well.

Lower viscosity oils are less harsh and are preferred by people who inhale mouth-to-lung. This is most common among people who use vape pens to help quit smoking.
